The evil eye bead, sometimes also known as nazar or hamsa (among other names), is a bead or amulet used to ward off evil spirits and protect the wearer from them. It has origins in many middle Eastern & Meditteranean cultures. Today, it is often used decoratively, but also carries protective significance. 
 
A large (3/4") evil eye enamel pendant hangs from a hand wire-wrapped chain made of faceted lapis lazuli. 
 
Measures 17" and closes with an antiqued brass lobster clasp.
